I install DeltaCopy smoothly and experience no problems.

On running the DeltaCopy Server for the first time, I opt to register it as a Windows Service by clicking the big bold button.

However, no matter what I enter in the 'username' and 'password' fields, I receive the following error message every time:

Service Creation Failed: The user account name specified in the lpServiceStartName parameter does not exist.

What should I do to overcome this problem? Please help! Thank you.

Create an account called detacopyadmin with full admin privileges.

When registering the service try that newly created account's credentials.

In windows 7, I've found that right clicking on the DetaS.exe and clicking "Run as Administrator" from the context menu will allow you to register the service.

For Win 7 I had the same problem.
I modified the service directly under "Control Panel" ->"Administration tools" -> "Services" .
In the tab "connection" I put my username and pwd and the service now starts fine.

The problem with Windows Vista and Windows 7 is related to UAC. DeltaCopy client needs to run as Admin in order to start/stop the service but the OS does not allow that.

Try downloading DeltaCopy 1.4, which asks the operating system to elevate user privileges. This results in a UAC permission prompt but will allow you to register, start and stop the service from DeltaCopy server screen.

I have the same problem -- unable to login with user/password. However, DeltaCopy gives no option to change or correct it. I tried uninstall and reinstall -- but it's remembering it somewhere and bypasses the user/pw menu. I even searched the registry for deltacopy entries...no luck. This is WinXP on a domain. I probably should have chosen to work as a local user but I need to sync from a shared folder to a remote system running rsync. How do I cleanup deltacopy so I can get to the user/password menu?
